Next Dinner on May 28th!
Also, thoughts on a BreadBreakers D&D and/or Improv event?
Hello hello wonderful BreadBreakers community,
It’s that part of the month I like to call “the day when our next BreadBreakers dinner is just under two weeks away” - so, without further ado, here is a reminder about that upcoming dinner. And some other things.
One of those other things is an informal poll. On a scale of “not my jam” to “yes please!”, how interested would you be in a BreadBreakers Improv Comedy event? A BreadBreakers Dungeons and Dragons (Simplified) event? If you have opinions, reply us at BreadBreakersInfo@gmail.com.
And now, on to our upcoming events - including an exciting community forum we’re partnering on with the Northern Virginia Returned Peace Corps Volunteers!
Upcoming BreadBreakers Events
May BreadBreakers Community Dinner (Sign-up here or on Meetup.com)
When: Thursday, May 28th, 6:30-8:30 pm
Where: Reston Community Center - Lake Anne (1609-A Washington Plaza N, Reston, VA 20190)
What: Our main monthly gathering with multiple tables breaking bread at the same time. Three different topics to choose from, ranging from current events, to spiritual or philosophical questions, to different parts of the human experience. Whether you’re looking for good discourse or simply to connect with others in a meaningful way, there’s a table for you.
Cost: Dinner is provided for free, but at-will donations are accepted if you’d like to support BreadBreakers’ mission.
Immigration Forum, Hosted by the Northern Virginia Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (Not a BreadBreakers event, but NOVA RPCV has invited our community to partner and participate - sign up here)
When: Wednesday, June 10th, 6:00-8:00 pm
Where: Reston Regional Library (11925 Bowman Towne Dr, Reston, VA 20190)
What: A community forum hosted by Northern Virginia Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (NOVA RPCVs) focused on immigration — history, current issues, and potential solutions. Immigration experts Kamana Mathur and Tom Carroll will provide an overview of the current immigration landscape, take questions, and lead a discussion across diverse viewpoints. The goal is constructive dialogue, improving understanding, and identification of common ground where it exists — and after the session, the hosts will compile the discussion into a white paper outlining suggested reforms.
Cost: Free
Save The Date: Future BreadBreakers Community Dinners on June 24th and July 30th
Food for Thought
Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to write our next Food for Thought yet. So for today, I’ll simply leave you with this briefest of teasers: what would it look like if we made a habit of imagining what might be going on in the lives of people who irritate us?
All the best,
Michael Graham
